Rivers Administrator Ibas Denies Fake Civil Service Recruitment Notice
Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has categorically dismissed a viral social media report claiming that he had authorized the recruitment of 10,000 new personnel into the state’s civil service.
In a formal statement released in Port Harcourt on Thursday, the acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Inyingi Brown, described the circulating claim as entirely false and misleading…READ MORE….
The fabricated announcement, which alleged that an application portal would be launched by midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025, was falsely attributed to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika.
Brown stressed that any official communication regarding recruitment into the Rivers State Civil Service will only come through the Rivers State Civil Service Commission and not via unverified social media posts or unauthorized sources.
“We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public to disregard this fake announcement,” the statement read. “Any valid update on civil service employment will be issued through the appropriate and official government channels.”
Brown further emphasized the state’s commitment to maintaining a transparent and structured recruitment process, assuring the public that no legitimate hiring process would bypass established procedures.
The misleading report surfaced shortly after Vice Admiral Ibas announced new appointments to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, adding to the urgency of the clarification.
