This appearance comes just days after the emergency declaration on Tuesday, which led to Fubara’s suspension from office, along with his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Ibok-Ete Ibas was appointed as the Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for an initial period of six months. There were reports circulating that Fubara had relocated to Bayelsa State after the suspension, but he refuted these claims with his public appearance, clarifying that he has not moved out of Rivers State. Meanwhile, the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has already taken charge, holding emergency security meetings with law enforcement and traditional rulers, as well as confirming the release of withheld local government allocations and the processing of payments for local government workers. Ibas has also been overseeing the reconstruction of the State House of Assembly Complex, promising its timely completion.
