Ronaldo’s lucrative contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr propelled him to the summit, with earnings totaling Ā£218 million ($275 million) for the year.
According to Sportico, this staggering figure places him comfortably ahead of the runner-up, golf sensation Jon Rahm, who amassed £161 million ($203 million).
Meanwhile, Messi, following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, clinched the third position, boasting earnings of £103 million ($130 million), surpassing basketball icon LeBron James, who garnered £99.8 million ($126 million).
Completing the top five is Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, who accrued £99.2 million ($125 million) in earnings for the year.
