Speaking during the 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association, Chief Adejumobi expressed concerns about the town’s current security infrastructure, highlighting the existence of only one police station in Saki.
During the week-long event held from January 13 to 19, 2024, Saki’s prominent sons and daughters gathered for prayers, traditional ceremonies, and discussions on the town’s development. Security emerged as a crucial topic, with Chief Adejumobi emphasizing the need for additional police posts in alignment with the town’s substantial growth.
“We have only one police station for such a vast and developing town. We urge the government to establish more police posts and empower the Amotekun security outfit to effectively address our security concerns,” he emphasized.
Addressing rumors surrounding the governor’s sentiments toward Saki following the 2023 gubernatorial election results, Adejumobi called for unity, urging Governor Makinde to overlook any perceived shortcomings. He emphasized the community’s continued support for the governor and appealed to the opposition to set aside politics for the betterment of Saki.
Focusing primarily on security and education, Chief Adejumobi unveiled plans to establish Saki City University. A special committee has been tasked to seek external support and generate funds for the university. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, he mentioned, “We have decided to establish our university, to be called Saki City University. The committee will begin reaching out to potential donors in the first quarter of this year.”
As the AGM concluded, participants celebrated at the Okere palace, fostering a festive spirit amid discussions. The community looks forward to positive developments in security, education, and overall town advancement in the coming months.
