According to Ireporter Online, the Lagos State Government has confirmed the arrest of Nollywood actress Sarah Martins by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI). The government stated that the actress violated environmental and safety laws by conducting unauthorized charitable cooking on a road median in the Admiralty area of Lekki Phase 1.

Sarah Martins, who took to Instagram to share her experience, revealed that she was cooking meals for the less privileged when KAI officials approached her. She alleged that the officers harassed her and confiscated her cooking gas, food supplies, and other items she was using for the charity event.

In response, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, issued a statement explaining that the enforcement officers acted within the law. Wahab clarified that cooking or carrying out any activity on public road medians constitutes the misuse of public infrastructure and contravenes existing sanitation regulations.

The Commissioner emphasized that while the government appreciates charitable efforts, such activities must comply with environmental and safety standards to prevent damage to infrastructure, traffic disruption, and potential health risks.

He reaffirmed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean, sustainable, and orderly city under its ongoing #KeepLagosClean and #ZeroToleranceLagos campaigns.
