Akpabio passionately advocated for a cessation of hostilities, access to humanitarian aid, and the release of hostages and prisoners of war as essential components of any resolution. He stressed the need for a collective effort to ensure that both sides engage in negotiations for lasting peace.
Asserting that the world cannot afford to remain indifferent to the plight of innocent civilians in Gaza, Akpabio urged delegates to set aside personal agendas and work towards a comprehensive resolution that addresses the humanitarian crisis effectively.
He called for unity and collaboration among nations, urging a pragmatic approach to overcome differences and achieve a consensus that reflects the shared values of humanity and compassion.
Akpabio’s impassioned plea resonated with attendees, emphasizing the urgency of action to prevent further suffering and loss of life in Gaza. His speech underscored the critical role of international organizations like the IPU in promoting peace and stability worldwide.
As the assembly continues its deliberations, Akpabio’s call for collective action serves as a powerful reminder of the moral imperative to stand up for the vulnerable and marginalized, regardless of political or ideological differences.
