“This coordinated assault seems to be a direct consequence of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s courageous stance against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she has accused of sexual harassment. We call on the Inspector General of Police to swiftly restore her security detail.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan recounted her experience: “Two days ago, my younger brother brought some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect sites for upcoming projects I have secured for my senatorial district. The assailants assumed I was in town and launched their attack on my family home that night. Thankfully, the civil defense team and local residents acted quickly and frightened them away. A report has been filed with the police area command, and fortunately, no one was harmed.”

“We urge the public to remain calm and support the quest for justice on behalf of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. Her commitment to truth and her constituents must not be met with violence or intimidation.
