According to reports, prominent businessman and socialite Obi Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been appointed South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. Obi Cubana confirmed the development in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday.

He disclosed that Seyi Tinubu visited his residence on Monday evening to personally present the appointment certificate. The visit also provided an opportunity for the two to discuss various national issues.

“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” Obi Cubana stated.

Addressing reactions to his new role, the entrepreneur defended his decision, noting that meaningful change requires active engagement rather than isolation. “I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

Obi Cubana also reassured the public that his new position will not compromise his commitment to integrity, community development, and responsible leadership. “I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside, so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he added.

He described President Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce” and expressed his dedication to inclusivity in executing his duties. “All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.

Finally, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions while emphasizing the importance of creating tangible value for national development. “Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move!” he concluded, thanking his supporters and pledging to work toward a more inclusive future.
