In his directive at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Shettima emphasized the importance of upholding high standards of integrity and expertise in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity across the nation.
The Vice President stressed that the NISO board’s efforts are critical to the success of President Bola Tinubu’s power sector reform agenda. He commended the board’s appointment, noting it was based on a rigorous and transparent selection process, ensuring the team possesses the necessary experience and leadership to tackle Nigeria’s energy challenges.
Shettima also highlighted the ongoing role of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in maintaining transmission infrastructure, despite the transfer of system and market operations to NISO, as part of the broader efforts to enhance Nigeria’s power grid. The Minister of Power, Chief Adelabu Adebayo, further outlined NISO’s key responsibilities, including optimizing energy dispatch and ensuring transparency and discipline in market operations.
