Stop Exploiting Customers! NERC Issues Tough Warning To Electricity DisCos

This directive reaffirms that DisCos are obligated to replace defective or obsolete meters at no cost to consumers, as outlined in the Commission’s Order No. NERC/246/2021.
NERC emphasized that any attempt to mandate customers to accept estimated billing violates its regulations.
Reports from customers reveal frustrations over restricted access to recharge energy credits, which some view as a tactic to impose estimated billing.
NERC has assured the public of its commitment to protecting consumers’ rights and urged customers to report non-compliance via official channels.
