Teenage Girl Allegedly Stabs Foster Mother To Death In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the occurrence, with Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, issuing a statement on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

The tragic incident transpired at the residence of the deceased in Oda, Akure, last Wednesday.

While the family of the deceased asserts that the suspect struggles with mental illness, the police await formal medical documentation to corroborate this claim.

“The suspect is in our custody, and we have commenced an investigation into the matter. However, the family informed us of the suspect’s mental health issue,” stated Odunlami.

“We are awaiting the medical report to verify this. The deceased had been a foster mother to the suspect, caring for her since her childhood.”

Reports indicate that the decomposing body of Mrs. Adelayi, who was employed at the Ondo State Ministry of Finance, was discovered at her residence three days after her demise.

According to a neighbor, the deceased sustained stab wounds to her abdomen, with the assailant allegedly barricading the doors to hinder any potential aid.

The deceased’s remains have been transferred to a morgue in Akure, awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings.
