Farooq Kperogi, which criticized President Tinubu for allegedly favoring his ethnic group in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
In the article titled “Tinubu’s Buharisation of the NNPC,” Kperogi called out the president for perpetuating a “Yorubacentric takeover” similar to what occurred under former President Buhari’s administration. El-Rufai responded to the criticism by emphasizing the importance of inclusive governance, stating that “Two wrongs do not make a right” and that sensible inclusion trumps exclusion.
However, Omokri quickly rebuked El-Rufai’s stance, accusing him of hypocrisy, and questioning his previous admissions of using government funds for controversial purposes. Omokri took to social media to criticize El-Rufai’s past actions, including his alleged support for certain armed groups, contrasting them with the current administration’s infrastructure projects.
El-Rufai, not backing down, retaliated by labeling Omokri as a “political mercenary” and shared old posts accusing him of supporting controversial political figures. The back-and-forth has sparked significant online debate, drawing in supporters and critics of both political figures.
This ongoing clash highlights the deepening political divides as figures like El-Rufai and Omokri continue to voice their divergent views on governance and leadership in Nigeria.
