Tinubu Establishes Committee To Plan National Youth Confab

The confab, initially announced during Tinubu’s last Independence Day broadcast, will focus on technology, agriculture, and other key sectors to enhance youth participation in national development. The President urged Nigerian youths to take advantage of this platform to shape policies that impact their future.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, stated that the committee was carefully constituted, drawing members from various government agencies, civil society organizations, NGOs, and international bodies like the World Bank.

Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa and a lead committee member, commended the initiative but cautioned against political interference, emphasizing the need for a transparent, youth-driven process.

The 30-day confab will feature virtual consultations, regional meetings, and a week-long conference in Abuja.

Other committee members include Senate Chairman on NDDC, Asuquo Ekpeyong, Dr. Linus Okorie, Dr. Garba Aliyu, Babatunde Adeleke, Francis Sani, Azeezat Yishawu, Sara-Igbe Sukubo, Hauwa Ibrahim, Zara Goni, Oladele Nihi, Dare Ojepe, Uchechukwu George Egbe, and Samson Itodo.

The committee also includes representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
