Tiwa Savage Speaks Boldly On S3x Tape: ‘Only Regret Was My Expression’

Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has debunked widespread claims that she deliberately released her sex tape as a publicity stunt to remain relevant in the industry.

According to Ireporter Online, the Afrobeats sensation, who was at the center of a major scandal in October 2021 after a blackmailer leaked her private video, recalled how she was heavily criticised for refusing to give in to extortion. Many at the time accused her of seeking attention, a narrative she has now firmly dismissed.

Speaking during a recent interview with American radio station Hot 97, Tiwa Savage stated that if her intention had been to gain sympathy or relevance, she would have staged it with precision. “I was bashed for my sex video. A lot of people think I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were quite horrible and blamed me,” she said. “I don’t know how they couldn’t see me as the victim. They said I did it to be relevant. If I were doing that, I would have been intentional about it — with proper lighting, lingerie, and even facial expressions.”

In another interview on The JMatt Show, the singer opened up about a past secret relationship with a public figure who insisted on keeping their romance hidden. She revealed that while she initially agreed, she later found the secrecy unbearable. According to her, the man would go as far as pretending they were strangers in public, mingling freely with others in her presence while making her feel invisible. Savage admitted the situation became uncomfortable, especially when his behavior left her unable to react, all in his bid to avoid suspicion.
