Toyin Abraham Reacts To ‘Oversabi Aunty’ N1bn Milestone Amid Abike Shugaa Payment Claim

According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has spoken about her recent career milestone following the commercial success of her film Oversabi Aunty, which has reportedly grossed over N1 billion at the Nigerian box office, making it the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time.

The actress made the remarks amid ongoing controversy involving influencer Abike Shugaa, who had publicly accused her of unfair treatment during her appearance in the 2022 movie Ijakumo. Abike alleged that she was paid N50,000 for her role and later discovered that her scenes were not included in the final edit of the film.

Responding to the claims, Abraham clarified that Abike was compensated N500,000 for her role in Malaika and N50,000 for her appearance in Ijakumo, adding that the decision to cut her scenes was made by the film’s director and not by her.

Oversabi Aunty, released on December 19, 2025, features prominent Nollywood stars including Mike Ezuruonye, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Queen Nwokoye, and Efe Irele. The film’s title was inspired by a viral moment from Priscilla Ojo’s wedding, where Abraham’s lively demeanor earned her the nickname “Oversabi.”

In a post shared on X, the actress expressed gratitude and reflected on the pressure following the film’s success, stating that she has barely had rest since it crossed the N1 billion milestone, noting that the achievement has placed her in a demanding new phase of her career.
