Tragedy in Ondo: Final-Year Polytechnic Student Found Dead in Suspected Suicide
A heartbreaking incident has struck Ondo State as Precious Arobo, a 28-year-old final-year student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), was reportedly found dead in what is believed to be a case of suicide.
Arobo, an HND II student, was discovered lifeless in a bush near his residence by concerned community members. According to local reports, a suicide note was found at the scene, although the contents have not been fully disclosed.
Preliminary indications suggest the note may have referenced emotional distress, possibly connected to relationship issues. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, family sources confirmed that Arobo has since been buried, with parents, peers, and loved ones devastated by his death.
“He was a compassionate young man. His loss is a heavy blow to everyone who knew him,” a close associate stated.
The Ondo State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Ayanlade Olayinka, has confirmed the incident and revealed that a full investigation is underway to determine the precise cause and surrounding details of the tragedy.
The campus and surrounding community continue to mourn the passing of a young man described as popular and kind-hearted, amid renewed calls for greater mental health support for students.
