TryTaped Recordings Fuels Afrobeats Growth With Dami Laylo’s Upcoming Single ‘Lay Lo
According to Ireporter Online, Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry is increasingly shaped by independent production companies that are driving both creative and technical innovation for emerging talent. Lagos-based TryTaped Recordings Limited has emerged as a significant player in the country’s studio-driven music landscape, carving a reputation for fostering collaboration and nurturing next-generation Nigerian artists.
Guided by principles of resilience, consistency, and disciplined artistic growth, TryTaped has been instrumental in producing a range of Afrobeats projects, including Dami Laylo’s “Kigoma” and Urktave’s “Lawless” and “Yana.” The company’s culture, encapsulated by the mantra “Keep up the good work, never give up,” emphasizes long-term development over short-term gains.
Industry experts note that independent studios like TryTaped are redefining the Afrobeats production model by providing artists opportunities outside conventional label structures. Creative direction at the company is led by Chizi Owhondah Natha-Amadi, known professionally as Urktave, whose engineering style prioritizes layered instrumentation, sonic clarity, and immersive audio experiences tailored to modern streaming standards.
TryTaped is managed by Onyiyechi Gift Amadi, also known as AfroYana, whose leadership focuses on artist discipline, creative identity development, and sustainable career growth. Analysts suggest that such approaches are positioning Lagos not only as a cultural performance hub but also as a technical center influencing Afrobeats’ global competitiveness.
In a major upcoming release, TryTaped will unveil Dami Laylo’s new single, “Lay Lo,” scheduled for global streaming on April 10, 2026. The track blends melodic Afrobeats with contemporary Afropop and Afro-fusion, capturing the rhythmic energy of Lagos while offering a calm, emotionally resonant tone designed for both local and international audiences.
Born Damilola Olamilekan Osho, Dami Laylo represents a new wave of Nigerian artists driving Afrobeats’ international expansion through music that is culturally rooted yet commercially versatile. Production for “Lay Lo” was led by Urktave, showcasing TryTaped’s commitment to advanced audio engineering and precise studio execution. During recording sessions, Urktave referred to the artist’s momentum as a “Paralaylogram,” symbolizing continuous lyrical flow and artistic evolution.
AfroYana, who also manages Laylo’s talent, emphasized the importance of discipline, self-awareness, and humility in building sustainable careers. “Beyond the music, it’s about discipline and self-awareness. I always remind him to stay calm, stay focused, speak less, and never see anyone as competition. Your only competition is who you were yesterday. Growth comes from within,” she said.
The release of “Lay Lo” aligns with TryTaped Recordings’ mission to expand the global reach of African music through culturally authentic and commercially competitive productions. The single will be available on all major streaming platforms from April 10, 2026, coinciding with the launch of the company’s upgraded website, www.trytaped.com
, as part of its international digital engagement strategy.
