In its New Year address, the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, stressed the importance of collective effort to overcome economic hardships and foster national development. Describing 2025 as a pivotal year, he emphasized the need for transparency, social dialogue, and equitable policies to rebuild trust and promote industrial harmony.

Ajaero called on the Federal Government to collaborate with trade unions and other key stakeholders to ensure that proposed reforms genuinely reflect the interests of all Nigerians. He also reaffirmed the NLC’s commitment to negotiating a wage review in light of current economic realities, advocating for incomes that meet workers’ basic needs.

“Our collective strength and determination are essential to propel Nigeria forward. Let us unite to create a nation where workers’ welfare, decent working conditions, and security are priorities,” Ajaero stated.

With plans for a national dialogue in January, the NLC envisions a reformed tax system that drives sustainable development while garnering broad acceptance.
