University Head Brutally Killed, Children Abducted In Katsina Bandit AttackA lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, identified as Tiri Gyan David, was killed by bandits in the early hours of Tuesday. Tiri, who served as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university, was attacked at his residence in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area.

An eyewitness reported to Channels TV that the attack occurred around 1:30 am, with the bandits using sophisticated weapons and shooting sporadically to frighten the residents. During the invasion, the bandits also abducted two of the lecturer’s children.

The Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a detailed statement about the attack would be released soon.

Dutsinma is one of ten security frontline local government areas in Katsina State, facing almost daily bandit attacks despite efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace.

In a related development, gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped Hajiya Halima Adamu, the mother of renowned Hausa singer Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara. Hajiya Adamu was taken from her home in Kahutu village, located in the Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State. According to a source in the village, the assailants arrived around 1 am on Friday and abducted the elderly woman.
