“We’ve Been Betrayed!” – Obidient Movement Raises Alarm Over ADC’s Secret Memo

A leaked internal communication from the Obidient Movement to former presidential candidate Peter Obi has revealed deepening discontent within the newly formed coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), raising fresh concerns about unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the memo dated July 29, 2025, and signed by the National Coordinator of the movement, Tanko Yunusa, expressed strong dissatisfaction over what the group described as “deliberate exclusion” from critical coalition activities and decision-making processes.

Despite the Obidient Movement’s central role in mobilizing grassroots political momentum, its members reportedly feel sidelined within the coalition’s framework.

The ADC, relaunched as a grand coalition party on July 2, 2025, aims to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming polls. The high-profile unveiling event featured prominent political figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former SGF Babachir Lawal, and Obi himself.

However, notable absences in formal commitments from key figures—especially Obi, who has yet to officially join the party—have fueled uncertainty within the bloc.

In the memo obtained and reviewed by IREPORTER ONLINE, Yunusa lamented that “several of our designated representatives and members are reportedly being excluded from crucial meetings where major decisions affecting the coalition are made,” adding that this exclusion risks eroding trust among coalition members.

The document emphasizes that none of Obi’s core allies have been given roles commensurate with their influence and contributions.

The memo further outlined structural grievances, citing a “non-existent representation” of the movement within the coalition’s organs. “The current structure does not reflect the Obidient Movement’s strength and contribution,” it read, urging the inclusion of at least one working and one non-working committee member from the movement in each geopolitical zone.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, the Obidient Movement believes that only swift and direct intervention from Obi can restore faith in the coalition’s unity.

“We look forward to you resolving this with the party leadership in the spirit of the new Nigeria we want to build,” the memo concluded.

As tensions simmer beneath the surface, political analysts suggest that failure to address these grievances may compromise the coalition’s credibility and cohesion ahead of a critical electoral battle.
