Why Gunmen Are Attacking, Burning INEC Offices – Shehu Sani

Former federal lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has stated that those who attacked INEC facilities were out to sabotage the upcoming elections.

Unknown gunmen have been attacking and torching INEC offices across the country, particularly in the Southeast.

The INEC office in Ebonyi State’s Izzi Local Government Area was set ablaze on Sunday by unknown hoodlums.

340 ballot boxes, 14 power generators, 130 voting cubicles, large water storage tanks, office furniture, and a large number of voter cards were among the properties destroyed.

In response to the incident, Shehu Sani declared in a tweet on Monday that the attackers are enemies of progress who do not want general elections to be held in 2023.

He wrote: “The ultimate aim of those attacking and burning down INEC offices is to sabotage the coming general elections.

“They are enemies of democracy. It’s a patriotic duty for people to defy violence and rise up against those anarchists.”
