Wike Seizes Properties Owned By Patience Jonathan, Fayose, Emir Of Ilorin, And Other High-Profile Figures

According to Ireporter Online, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked 1,095 property titles across Abuja following widespread non-compliance with statutory land obligations. The move, approved by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, came after a 14-day final grace period lapsed on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The affected titles were listed in a statement issued by the FCTA Department of Land Administration over the weekend, outlining a renewed clampdown on plot owners who failed to settle ground rent, complete land-use conversion fees, or fulfil Certificate of Occupancy requirements. Of the total number sanctioned, 835 plots were revoked for ground rent default, while 260 were linked to land-use contravention fees.

Ireporter Online gathered that the comprehensive list of defaulters contained file numbers, plot details, cadastral zones, districts, outstanding liabilities, and revocation dates. The revoked properties include those belonging to federal institutions, state governments, private companies, and several high-profile Nigerians.

Among the prominent individuals named are former Chief of Army Staff, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma; former First Lady, Patience Jonathan; former Senate President, David Mark; former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido; Senator Ali Ndume; former PDP National Chairman, Abubakar Kawu Baraje; Senator Iyiola Omisore; the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; Professor Bolaji Akinyemi; Tony Anenih; and ex-Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Also listed are former governors Abdullahi Ganduje, Adeniyi Adebayo, Donald Duke, Aliyu Wamakko, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Ayodele Fayose, and Olagunsoye Oyinlola. Other notable figures include Minister of State for Industry, John Owan Enoh; Aminu Alhassan Dantata; Bashir Tofa; Audu Abubakar; Bello Mohamed Sani; Mohammed Rabiu; Senator Jimoh Ibrahim; Ado Abdullahi Bayero; Tanko Abdullahi; Adetunji Olurin; Ghali Umar Na’abba; Dorcas Kuforiji Olubi; Olu Agunloye; Kamorudeen Adekunle Adedibu; Hakeem Baba-Ahmed; Iyabo Obasanjo; Shehu Musa Labaran; Onaolapo Olusegun Soleye; and Babatunde Idiagbon.

Major institutions were not spared, as the list also featured the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Navy, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the governments of Borno, Kaduna, and Oyo states. Private sector organisations such as BUA Group, First Bank, GTBank, Ecobank, Union Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank, the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Committee of Vice Chancellors, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers were equally cited.

The Department of Land Administration stated that the decision followed multiple public notices issued across newspapers, online media, and broadcast outlets urging the affected owners to clear their outstanding liabilities. The department noted that their failure to comply constitutes a breach of Section 28 (5)(a)(b) of the Land Use Act as well as violations of the respective terms of their Rights of Occupancy.
