Yahoo Boys No Longer Welcome: Kogi Plans Tough Action Against Landlords

Taiye expressed disappointment with some landlords who are aiding criminal activities by leasing their properties to people with suspicious sources of income. In response, the government is working on a new policy, currently under discussion in the House of Assembly, aimed at regulating property ownership and rental practices. The proposed bill will hold landlords accountable for the tenants they allow.

Taiye further emphasized that the government is taking proactive steps to raise awareness among stakeholders in the housing sector and ensure that the new policies are implemented effectively. “The Kogi State Government is collaborating with key players in the building sector to create a solid framework that will help provide homes for our people,” he said. He stressed that clear and enforceable policies would be crucial to curbing the excesses of landlords and maintaining order in the state’s urban areas.
