You’re Already A Terrorist” — Tinubu’s Aide Slams Critics Of Adelabu Family Rescue Operation

According to Ireporter Online, the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, has condemned individuals questioning the swift rescue of the family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, describing their reactions as inappropriate and politically motivated.

Naija News reports that Adelabu’s sister, Olaide Adegoke, alongside her twin sons, was abducted on June 3 in Ibadan, Oyo State, and subsequently rescued on June 6 by security operatives. The development, however, sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians contrasting the quick intervention with the continued captivity of schoolchildren and teachers in another incident in Oyo State.

Reacting via posts on , Olusegun defended the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that those who expressed dissatisfaction with the rescue efforts were indirectly sympathising with criminal elements. He stated that individuals who oppose the rescue on the basis of conspiracy theories demonstrate what he described as a mindset aligned with terrorism, even if not physically involved in violent acts.

He further accused some commentators of politicising the incident and lacking empathy for victims of kidnapping, alleging that they were exploiting the situation for political advantage. Olusegun maintained that such individuals were indifferent to other ongoing abductions and were instead focused on using the situation as political leverage.

In a follow-up response, he also rejected comparisons being made between the current administration and past opposition criticisms of insecurity, arguing that past political actors did not celebrate misfortunes in the manner he claims is being done presently. He added that justifying what he described as insensitive behaviour based on historical political conduct does not excuse a lack of humanity.
