YPP Chairman Slams Opposition Coalition, Says Most Leaders Have Failed Nigerians
Bishop Amakiri, the National Chairman of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has strongly criticized the emerging opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that most of its leaders have previously failed Nigerians.
Amakiri argued that the coalition is composed of the same political elites responsible for Nigeria’s prolonged leadership crisis. He questioned their moral authority to present themselves as agents of change.
According to the YPP chairman, approximately 85 percent of those leading the coalition are members of the Political Progressive Movement (PPM) and have a track record of governance failures.
“I struggle to see how a group dominated by people who have contributed to Nigeria’s leadership collapse can credibly promise transformation,” Amakiri said.
He added, “Nigeria is in desperate need of a genuine shift in leadership. This coalition, as currently constituted, doesn’t represent the fresh alternative Nigerians deserve.”
Amakiri emphasized that it is now up to Nigerians to critically evaluate the sincerity and credibility of political actors as the country approaches another election cycle.
His comments come amid increasing debates over the viability and composition of opposition alliances aiming to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
