Zamfara Explosions Linked To Lakurawa Terrorist Group, Police Confirm

In a statement on Wednesday, State Police Commissioner Muhammad Dalijan confirmed that the explosions were caused by a bomb planted under a bridge by the terrorists. The blast resulted in the death of one individual, with three others sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

The explosion occurred around 8 am on Wednesday when a commercial driver, transporting passengers to Dansadau, inadvertently triggered the bomb.

Dalijan stated that preliminary investigations revealed the attack was carried out by remnants of the Lakurawa group, which has been under pressure from Nigerian forces to vacate the area. The terrorists are reportedly attempting to flee towards the Birnin-Gwari forest in Zamfara state.

The Police Commissioner assured that security forces were committed to dismantling the terrorist group and urged the public to provide any useful information to aid in their efforts.
