Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service Begins-Enforcement On Non-Compliant Commercial Vehicle-Operators (Details)

The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZSIRS) has launched an enforcement operation targeting operators of keke-napep, okada, and other commercial vehicles who have failed to comply with the state’s registration mandate. This initiative was disclosed by Alhaji Hadi Bawa Gusau, the Director of Information and Intelligence Gathering for the service, during a phone-in program on Zamfara Radio.

Representing the Executive Chairperson of the ZSIRS, Hajiya Rakiya Ahmed Dodo, Alhaji Hadi Bawa explained that the enforcement action follows the expiration of the ultimatum period previously given to vehicle operators. He emphasized the critical role of the registration process in mitigating security challenges within the state.

“The significance of this registration in reducing security challenges cannot be overemphasized,” Alhaji Hadi Bawa stated.

Muhammed Surajo Isah Gusau, Head of the Enforcement Unit, elaborated on the team’s activities and the legal authority under which they operate. He clarified that the enforcement effort is not intended to victimize individuals but to ensure that all taxpayers comply with the regulations.

“The enforcement is not meant to victimize anybody, but only to put the taxpayers on the right path and ensure full compliance,” he noted.

Danburan Anka, Deputy Director of the Tax Audit and Investigation Department, also urged all taxpayers to adhere to the established rules and regulations of the Revenue Service. He stressed that compliance is essential for the overall development of Zamfara State.
