[BREAKING] Naira Redesign: Supreme Court Takes Strong Position

Supreme Court 1

The Supreme Court has insisted that the naira redesign and swap policy dispute be resolved today.

New parties wishing to join the suit would no longer be permitted, according to the seven-member panel led by Justice Inyang Okoro.

He stated that new parties would either follow the outcome of the existing suits or file a new one after the current suit was resolved, but that the matter had to be decided today.

They were responding to an application by Abia State’s Attorney General to join the suit as a separate suit, similar to the one earlier brought by the Rivers State Government through its counsel, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN).

As a result, the Rivers State Government consolidated the panel with other suits.

The panel then began hearing the existing matter after announcing 11 states consolidated as co-plaintiffs, alongside Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states.
