Drama As PDP Protesters Storm INEC Office With Herbalist, Charms In Rivers

On Tuesday morning, protesting members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) resumed their protest at the main entrance to the Rivers State headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt, accompanied by a pot of charms (Juju) and a herbalist.

The protesters, who brought palm fronds with them, were on their second day of protesting for a joint inspection of 2023 election materials at the INEC office.

They had attacked the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, on Monday and prevented him from entering the electoral umpire’s office, where he was scheduled to meet with commission officials.

When the protest resumed on Tuesday, the chairman of the State’s Ikwerre local government area, Samuel Nwanosike, dressed in white and wearing a traditional cap, was seen making incantations in his native Ikwerre language.
