According to a resident named Ishaq Bungudu, the armed bandits entered the town with lethal weapons, firing indiscriminately, which led to the loss of one life. Among the abducted individuals were Abdulrahman Hassan, the son of the Emir of Bungudu, and Abubakar S/Fada Bungudu, the Former State Programme Officer of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Bungudu expressed distress over the frequent attacks on the local government headquarters by these armed bandits, especially given its proximity to the state capital, Gusau. He urged the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to urgently appoint security aides to address the ongoing security challenges.

He explained, “We are under almost daily attacks despite our proximity to Gusau, the state capital. The government has not provided any effective response, and the governor does not even have security aides since he assumed office.”

Bungudu revealed that the recurring attacks on the local government headquarters and nearby communities could be linked to a bandit enclave located on the outskirts of the town. He questioned why security agencies have not taken action to dismantle this hideout and dislodge the bandits.

The Bungudu Local Government Headquarters is approximately 21 kilometers away from the state capital, Gusau. Recent history has seen several attacks in this area, including the tragic deaths of policemen in the past month.
