BREAKING: UK Police Charges Former Nigerian Minister Alison-Madueke Charged With Bribery (DETAILS)
British authorities announced on Tuesday that they have formally charged former Nigerian oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke with bribery-related offenses.
The charges stem from suspicions that she accepted bribes in exchange for awarding oil and gas contracts worth millions of pounds.
Alison-Madueke, aged 63, held a significant role in the administration of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, serving as the petroleum minister from 2010 to 2015.
She also held the position of president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Head of the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) International Corruption Unit, Andy Kelly, stated, “We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts. These charges mark a significant step in a comprehensive and intricate international investigation.”
The NCA revealed that the charges against Alison-Madueke involve allegations that she received over £100,000 in cash, used chauffeur-driven vehicles, took flights on private jets, enjoyed luxury vacations for her family, and utilized multiple London properties.
The charges also encompass other financial perks, such as furniture, property renovations, staffing for the properties, payment of private school fees, and gifts from high-end designer stores including Cartier and Louis Vuitton, according to the NCA.
Although she has faced corruption allegations since leaving her position, Alison-Madueke has consistently denied the charges.
British authorities have stated that she is presently residing in the upscale neighborhood of St John’s Wood in west London and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 2.
