Good News As NYSC Orientation Camp Resumes In Borno After 13 Years

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has initiated an orientation camp in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, marking the resumption of this exercise after a 13-year hiatus due to the suspension caused by the Boko Haram insurgency in 2011.

At the swearing-in ceremony of Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 corps members held at a temporary orientation camp in the state’s capital, Mohammed Adamu, the NYSC State Coordinator, attributed the revival of the orientation course in the state to the efforts of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

The corps members, totaling 1,125 individuals consisting of 629 males and 496 females, are accommodated at the Arabic Teachers College, which is being used as a temporary orientation camp. The security presence is robust, with the military, police, civil defense, and civilian joint task force providing stringent security measures.

Governor Zulum expressed his satisfaction at the reestablishment of the orientation camp in the state, interpreting this development as a signal of peace and security’s restoration after enduring years of insurgency. Zulum also directed NYSC officials to identify graduates with backgrounds in science, medicine, and para-medical fields for potential employment opportunities within the state government.
