JUST IN: Obaseki Takes Fresh Action Against Shaibu (DETAILS)

The media team associated with the office of Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu in Edo State has been dissolved by the state government.

This decision stems from an incident that occurred at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, the capital of the state, on Monday.

In an official statement, Chris Nehikhare, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation in the state, explained that the media crew of the deputy governor attempted to enter the hall where Governor Godwin Obaseki and other invited dignitaries were present to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Midwest Referendum. This action contradicted the established accreditation protocol for media coverage of the event.

The statement highlighted, “The orchestrated and stage-managed walkout and disruption is highly regrettable.”

In response, the government has assigned the Ministry of Communication and Orientation to oversee media coverage of the activities related to Deputy Governor Shaibu’s office.
