Yesterday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) carried out the demolition of a fully constructed multi-million naira duplex that was unlawfully erected on an unapproved plot of land.

The demolished building was situated at Plot 226 Cad Zone A02 Wuse 1, Wuse, Zone 6 District. Initially believed to be owned by His Royal Highness Oba Oyebade Lipede, the property was taken over through fraudulent means by Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and Alhaji Ademu Teku, who proceeded to construct the duplex in violation of warnings against such actions.

The Director of the Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, explained that his team conducted a thorough investigation to ascertain the legitimate owner of the plot, given the conflicting claims presented by the involved parties.

Galadima emphasized that the administration’s stance remains unwavering when it comes to defaulting developers who disregard development rules and regulations. He stated, “We demolished the duplex because someone built on another person’s land without a valid title and building plan approval. Our investigation revealed that the developer is not the actual owner of the plot, which is why we took the step to remove the building.”

He further added, “We allowed the construction to reach this stage before taking action because we followed due process. Despite being served with notices to cease work, the developer persisted in ignoring our warnings. After our investigation confirmed the original allottee, we proceeded with the demolition. We will be consulting the legal department to determine the next course of action against the developer.”
