Additionally, three suspected members of the Black Axe confraternity were apprehended at the entrance gate of Rivers State University in Port Harcourt by the Nkpolu Police Division last week. There are indications of internal conflict within the group, possibly related to a factional power struggle.

CP Emeka explained that acting on information from the institution’s acting Chief Security Officer, the Division responded to an attack within the campus, leading to the interception of the suspects at the main gate. Upon conducting a search, three sharp English axes and a locally made pistol were discovered, and investigations are underway.

Three notorious armed robbers were arrested on September 29, 2023, along the Rumukwushi tank flyover. They were linked to a burglary at a rice farm in the area. The police recovered two pump action guns, a Hilux, a Toyota Sienna, a bolt cutter, an iron bar, a walkie-talkie, a green-colored military jacket, and three bags of rice from the suspects. It was later determined that these were the same individuals who had burgled the same shop on August 9, 2023.

On October 5, 2023, the command received a report that a suspect had stolen a Toyota Camry parked in the Eleme area. In response, a police patrol team swiftly recovered the vehicle at intel, Irebe, and arrested one suspect, Anthony John.
