The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has granted approval for the revocation of land owned by the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi (SAN).

According to the notice signed by Deeds Registrar, Engineer Umar Sayyadi, and addressed to the former AGF on behalf of the FCT Minister, “The FCT Minister has, in exercise of powers conferred on him under the Land Use Act No. 6 of 1978, Cap L5, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, revoked your rights, interests, and privileges over plot No. 2858 within Asokoro (AO4) District for contravention of guiding terms of allocation.
“This is also in line with Section 28 subsections 5a and b. We regret the inconvenience this may cause you.
“Please accept the honourable minister’s highest regards,” the revocation notice stated.

Agabi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a politician, served twice as the Attorney General of the Federation during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure. He earned the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1997 and contested for the governorship of Cross River State in the April 1999 elections, though he did not succeed.
Two months ago, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, approved the immediate revocation of 165 plots of land in the serviced districts of the Federal Capital City. Notable individuals affected by this action included the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi; former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Uffot Joseph Ekaette; former Justice of the Supreme Court and chairman of the National Political Reforms Conference (NPRC), Late Justice Niki Tobi; former Justice of the Supreme Court, Udoma Udo Udoma; Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu; former Chairman of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah; and columnist Donu Kogbara, among others.
The revocation was based on the allotted owners’ failure to develop the plots, and Wike approved the notice for revocation due to continuous contravention of the terms of the agreement, as stated by the FCTA in a statement.
