In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, President Buhari lamented the loss of a foundational member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former President, visibly saddened by the news, acknowledged the deep friendship he shared with Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, spanning decades. He described the departed as not just a friend but also a political associate who aligned with him on numerous issues. Buhari extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Yobe State.

“I am deeply saddened by the demise of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim. I convey my deepest condolences to the family he left behind and to the government and people of Yobe State,” said President Buhari. He continued, “With his death, I have lost a friend whom I knew for decades, a political associate who shared my views on many issues. His insights and nuanced understanding of the people he governed had no parallels. May Allah forgive his shortcomings.”

Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, aged 75, breathed his last in Saudi Arabia on Sunday after battling a prolonged illness. As the APC mourns the loss of a seasoned politician, Buhari’s poignant words reflect the void left behind by the departure of a cherished ally.
