Confirming the unfortunate event, Alhaji Usman Tar, Borno State’s Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, highlighted that the explosion originated in the Layin Yan Katako area, causing damage to the market’s outer sections.

Despite the prompt response of the fire service personnel, the explosion claimed the lives of two Civilian JTF members, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in the bustling trading hub.

Tar reassured the public of the government’s commitment to preventing such incidents, with the state emergency agencies conducting an assessment to identify the root causes and prevent future occurrences.

He urged citizens to uphold law and order, emphasizing the importance of market safety and expressing condolences to those affected by the tragic event.
