EFCC Interrogates UNIJOS VC Over Alleged N355 Million Fraud
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos in Plateau State, Prof. Ishaya Tanko, faces questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud amounting to N355 million……READ ALSO EFCC Arrests Popular Crossdresser, Bobrisky
Reports reveal that Tanko stands accused of diverting the substantial sum to various private accounts, purportedly to settle rent liabilities for the university’s liaison offices in Lagos and Abuja through a company named Kolo Global Concept Ltd.
A petition lodged by some University staff members to the Minister of Education alleges that the two liaison offices were already acquired by previous administrations of the University, casting doubt on the necessity of the transaction.
The petition further asserts that Kolo Global Concept Ltd had no prior contractual ties with the University at the time of the alleged fund diversion, leading to suspicions surrounding the transaction’s legitimacy and subsequent distribution of funds.
In correspondence dated March 19, 2024, the EFCC invited Prof. Tanko to attend an interview alongside the University’s Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi, at the EFCC’s Abuja Zonal Command.
The letter, titled ‘Re: Investigation Activities. Letter Of Invitation,’ requests Tanko’s response to an earlier communication dated December 27, 2023.
According to SaharaReporters, Tanko appeared before EFCC operatives on Tuesday, March 26, to address the allegations leveled against him, undergoing extensive questioning during the interrogation session.
