Speaking to journalists in Akure, Edema criticized the committee for irregularities despite assurances of prompt distribution of election materials. He emphasized that party members are not “people being spoonfed by some godfathers.”

Edema alleged that the primary election results had been prematurely announced and urged the party’s leadership to ensure a free and fair process.

He stated, “The materials have not been sent here, despite waiting since 6 a.m. At about 9:30, the chairman of the committee said materials had been distributed. Unfortunately, the returning and electoral officers of my ward are here without materials. Then he had the effrontery to tell us that materials have been distributed and results have been announced at 10 a.m., when accreditation should start.”

Asserting their independence from political influencers, Edema stressed that they have garnered support from the people and demanded that their votes count. He called on the party leadership to address the situation and consider postponing the election to ensure fairness.
