In a recent incident in Lagos, a Nigerian lady, identified as Aderele Aisha, found herself in hot water after assaulting a police officer who stopped her for driving against traffic. The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, addressed the incident in a statement shared on his official handle. He acknowledged the viral video showing Aisha charging at the officer and assaulting him after he attempted to stop her for the traffic violation.
Hundeyin criticized the officer for allowing his emotions to override his professionalism, despite initially exercising restraint. The officer has been reprimanded appropriately for his actions.
In contrast, Aisha has expressed sincere remorse for her behavior and has tendered a written apology for her actions towards the officer. While emphasizing the importance of maintaining decorum in interactions with security agencies, Hundeyin called for professionalism from both officers and citizens.
This incident serves as a reminder of the need for mutual respect and adherence to the law, as well as the consequences of allowing emotions to escalate confrontations with law enforcement.
