Just In: Police Arrest Two Suspected Members Of E-hailing Driver Killing Syndicate (Details)
In a significant breakthrough, the Lagos State Police have apprehended two members of a syndicate responsible for the gruesome killing of e-hailing drivers and subsequent profiting from the sale of stolen vehicles. The arrested individuals are identified as Roqib Moshood and his alleged accomplice, Olawale Kolawole.
According to reports, the syndicate, led by Moshood and his associate, targeted e-hailing drivers under the pretense of being innocent passengers. In one instance, Moshood requested a neighbor’s son to book a ride with the victim, Oluwaseun Adeniran, whom they later killed, dumped his body, and stole his vehicle.
Moshood confessed to orchestrating the crime, revealing that they lured the victim to a desolate area near the Long Bridge, where they violently attacked and killed him. He admitted to being involved in similar incidents, resulting in the death of two other drivers.
In a bid to cover their tracks, Moshood and Kolawole sold the stolen vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer for over N1 million. Kolawole’s involvement as the supposed owner of the vehicle led to his arrest.
The police, acting on a missing person report filed by Adeniran’s family, intensified their investigation, eventually tracking down the suspects linked to the heinous crime. The case was transferred to the Commissioner of Police’s special squad, leading to the arrest of Moshood and Kolawole.
While the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, promised to provide further details, no response has been received at the time of filing this report.
