Diplomatic Steps Proposed by Former Envoy To Stop Seizure Of Nigerian Jets

A former Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Sarki, has offered advice on how President Bola Tinubu can resolve the ongoing issue involving the seizure of Nigerian presidential jets by a Chinese firm, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited.

The seizure, authorized by a French court, has caused significant diplomatic tensions.

Sarki recommended that Tinubu engage in direct diplomatic talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the upcoming China-Africa Summit or on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September.

Additionally, he urged the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, to collaborate closely with the Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, and the Chinese ambassador in Nigeria to de-escalate the situation and prevent further embarrassment.
