Governor Dapo Abiodun Begins Long-Awaited Overhaul of Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road After Two Decades of Neglect
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, has officially flagged off the complete overhaul of the 70-kilometer Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road. This critical road project, which has been neglected for over 21 years, marks a major step forward in the state’s development efforts.
Governor Abiodun, during the flag-off ceremony, emphasized the importance of the Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road in connecting key commercial and residential areas within the state. The road has been a source of concern for commuters and businesses due to its deteriorated condition, which has hindered economic activities and caused daily hardship for residents.
The governor highlighted that the rehabilitation of this vital road is long overdue, and his administration is committed to ensuring that it meets modern standards. The project, which involves a complete overhaul, will include resurfacing, drainage improvement, and the installation of road furniture to enhance safety and durability.
“This road has been a major source of concern for over two decades. We understand the impact its poor state has had on our people, and we are determined to make a lasting difference,” Governor Abiodun said. “This project is not just about fixing a road; it’s about improving lives, boosting our economy, and making Ogun State a better place to live and do business.”
The Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road connects some of the most densely populated and industrialized areas in Ogun State to Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub. The road’s overhaul is expected to reduce travel time, lower vehicle operating costs, and attract more businesses to the region, thereby contributing to the overall economic growth of the state.
Governor Abiodun also assured the public that the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame, with quality work that will stand the test of time. He called on residents to support the government’s efforts by cooperating with the construction teams and maintaining patience throughout the project’s duration.
This landmark project is a testament to Governor Abiodun’s commitment to infrastructure development and his determination to address the long-standing issues affecting the people of Ogun State. The rehabilitation of the Lagos-Sango Ota-Abeokuta Road is set to bring much-needed relief to commuters and create a ripple effect that will benefit the entire state.
