Bodies Of Missing Teenagers Discovered In Ogun River

Two teenagers, Malik Abdulganiyu and Hawal Akande, have been found dead in a river at Edudu Baale, Idi-Oke community, Igbesa, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The victims, reported missing since August 28, 2024, were discovered floating in a river near their home on Friday. Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident early Saturday morning.

15-year-old Abdulganiyu and 13-year-old Akande had left their home on Olaigbe Street in Egudu Baale on Wednesday morning for work at the Salvation Army within the community.

Odutola stated, “On August 8, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the mothers of Abdulganiyu and Akande reported that their children had not returned home from work on Thursday. The corpses were found floating in a river not far from their home.”

Police detectives investigated the scene and found no signs of an attack on the bodies. The bereaved family has requested the release of the corpses for burial according to Islamic rites.

This incident follows a similar event reported by Ireporteronline in March 2024, where Sunday Ogah drowned in the Eyinwa River in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
