Nine People Arrested For Open Defecation In Lagos’ Berger Area

Officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have apprehended nine individuals for engaging in open defecation in the Berger area of Lagos State. This action highlights the state’s continued effort to combat public sanitation issues.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests in a recent social media update, stating, “Nine individuals were arrested for open urination and defecation at Berger last night.”

This latest crackdown follows an earlier operation where 17 people were detained for similar offenses and for not using designated pedestrian bridges. The state government remains committed to enforcing its zero-tolerance policy on open defecation as part of its broader strategy to improve environmental cleanliness and public health.
