Federal Government Disburses N24.78bn to Over 990,000 Households in Nationwide Poverty Alleviation Effort
Major move to combat poverty across Nigeria, the Federal Government has disbursed a total of N24.78 billion to 991,261 low-income households under the National Cash Transfer programme. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable citizens and reduce poverty in the country.
The National Cash Transfer programme is designed to provide financial aid directly to poor households, particularly in rural and underserved communities. This disbursement, aimed at easing economic hardship, is expected to help millions of Nigerians meet their basic needs, improve their living conditions, and gain a foothold towards financial independence.
The funds distributed under this programme are meant to empower these households to invest in small-scale businesses, access healthcare, and provide for their children’s education. By targeting the most impoverished families, the initiative aims to break the cycle of poverty and create more sustainable livelihoods for the beneficiaries.
This latest cash disbursement is a part of the government’s broader social investment agenda, which includes various programmes aimed at reducing poverty, promoting financial inclusion, and boosting the national economy. As poverty levels in Nigeria remain a significant challenge, initiatives like the National Cash Transfer programme are crucial to addressing economic inequality and uplifting the most vulnerable sections of society.
With this continued financial support, the Federal Government reaffirms its commitment to improving the welfare of its citizens and driving long-term social and economic development across the nation.
