Ex-Brigade Commander’s Dark Secrets Unveiled—Army Launches InvestigationThe Nigerian Army Headquarters has initiated an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the former Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.

According to reports, Brigadier General Sadiq was relieved of his position due to accusations of withholding funds meant for his subordinates and other alleged cases of misappropriation during his command.

A military insider disclosed that the general is currently being detained as the inquiry progresses. The source added, “Matters concerning the brigade are managed by the Army Headquarters, not the Defence Headquarters as some rumors suggest. Brigadier General Sadiq was removed following claims by some soldiers that he withheld certain entitlements intended for them. He was summoned for questioning and remains in custody.”

When contacted, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, referred inquiries to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations. Major General Nwachukwu confirmed the investigation, citing “administrative irregularities” under Brigadier General Sadiq’s leadership, which necessitated his removal to ensure a thorough review.

Nwachukwu emphasized the Army’s unwavering commitment to discipline and accountability, saying, “The Nigerian Army is committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and will not tolerate any actions that compromise our values. The former 3 Brigade Commander, Brigadier General MA Sadiq, is under investigation for administrative discrepancies. His removal from command ensures a fair and thorough inquiry.”

He assured the public that the investigation would be impartial, and any proven misconduct would be dealt with appropriately. “The Army is determined to maintain transparency and integrity. This investigation will follow due process, and appropriate measures will be taken as needed.”

In life, as in leadership, “Character is not only what we do when others are watching, but who we are when no one is.”
