Throughout his managerial tenure, Ferguson achieved remarkable success, securing 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, and numerous other accolades, solidifying his status as one of the greatest managers in football history.

His retirement represented a significant moment, especially as it came 13 years after he had initially announced his intention to step down but later chose to continue. In a recent appearance on McCoist’s podcast, Ally’s Social Club, Ferguson elaborated on his reasons for leaving Old Trafford. He recounted how, in the months leading up to his retirement, Cathy’s sister had passed away, which deeply affected her.

Understanding the emotional toll this had on Cathy, Ferguson felt a strong sense of obligation. The 71-year-old retired Scottish manager stated, “Cathy’s sister died the previous October, and she was devastated. She was really struggling, so at Christmas, I told her, ‘Look, I’m going to retire at the end of the season.
