Governor Alia Lifts Suspension On Attorney General After Benue Withdraws From Controversial Anti-Corruption Suit

came on Monday during a state executive council meeting in Makurdi.

Mnyim was suspended on October 23 for his unilateral decision to include Benue in a lawsuit challenging the legality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). His reinstatement followed his formal withdrawal of Benue from the lawsuit.

Following his return, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, confirmed that Mnyim had met the government’s conditions for reinstatement.

In addition to the Attorney General’s reinstatement, the council approved N30.2bn in counterpart funding for the construction of five rural roads across the state’s three senatorial zones. Other approvals included N567 million for compensation to the Mbagwa and Mbawa communities, the domestication of the Disability Act, a N10 million donation to the Nigerian Legion for Armed Forces Remembrance Day, and the establishment of the Benue State Signage and Advertisement Agency.
